Dare to Teach…

What I’m Digesting at the Moment

Filed under: eLearning — Jeremy @ 11:08 am

I came across an interesting article in Academy of Management Learning and Education, which I get updates on through an RSS feed dedicated to eLearning articles (Link  to the article here, sorry, you’ll need .edu.au access to get the full text.)

With their article, “Teaching the Virtual Generation,” Proserpio and Gioia have perhaps pinned down something for me that I knew I had experienced in the classroom myself – and this also links in to these developing ideas I have about pedagogy and teaching methods/resources.

We’ve had Generation-Y and Generation-X (or Generation-neXt, for those media savvy amongst you) but this paper starts throwing around the idea of Generation-V – the “virtual generation.”

Not that I’m saying that the ideas contested, but it makes me terrifically excited when I see more and more work being published about new ways of teaching students.

I just hope teachers are reading the same stuff that I am.

More thoughts on Proserpio and Gioia coming soon…
